Merger of SMK and Most-Hid into a single election party was marred by the influence of the Hungarian governing Fidesz party, co-governing Most-Hid chairman Bela Bugar has told in an interview for TASR. According to Bugar, the agreement between the two parties was already prepared, but SMK eventually turned it down. Therefore, this year's general election will be about whether the ethnic Hungarian political scene in Slovakia will be 'Orbanised' or not. Most-Hid eventually joined forces with parties MKDA, Chance and the Roma Initiative of Slovakia. Representatives of the Slovak Deaf Association are running on Most-Hid's slate as well.
