Budapest Transport offers free travel to Ukraine refugees until Aug 31

May 31st, 2022

Refugees from Ukraine can use the services of Budapest's public transport company BKK free of charge until August 31, BKK said on Tuesday. To use public transport in Budapest, refugees must present a Ukrainian passport or ID, or a residence permit issued by the Hungarian authorities which shows Ukrainian citizenship, the company said. The benefit covers all BKK services with the exception of bus 100E, the Funicular on Castle Hill, and some specially themed services, they added. Hungarian-Ukrainian dual citizens are not entitled to the benefit unless they present proof of Ukrainian citizenship and residency.
