Brno representatives sign declaration against religious intolerance

January 21st, 2020

More than 20 representatives of the Brno municipal authority and districts signed a declaration initiated by the Open Brno association and aimed against religious intolerance, motivated by the recent vandalism of a Brno mosque, the association's representatives said on Tuesday. On January 3, an unknown perpetrator sprayed the message "Don't spread Islam in the Czech Republic! Otherwise we will kill you!" on the outer wall of the Brno mosque. In the past, hate slogans were sprayed on the mosque and its windows were broken. In 2016, a bag with a pig's head was placed in front of its door. The declaration states that any intimidation of any group of citizens is unacceptable and has to be stopped from the very start.
