Slovakia is fulfilling the demand of the European Commission to test 5-10 percent of samples, and the results show that the so-called British variant of the novel coronavirus is still the dominant strain in the country, Dasa Rackova, the spokesperson of the Public Health Office (UVZ), told TASR on Friday. "In May, 14.7 percent of Slovakia's positive PCR samples were sequenced. However, with regard to the present epidemiological situation with a rapid decline in the number of positive samples, we are considering a proposal to sequence all the positive samples found in Slovakia without regard for the existing criteria," Slovakia's Chief Hygienist Jan Mikas said.
