Bratislava City councillors approve renting of land by US Embassy

The Slovak capital will let 1,318 metres of city land in front of the building of the US Embassy on Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava to the embassy, Bratislava City councillors decided on Thursday. The US Embassy has been using this land since 2005 as its safety zone, comprising a fence, solid steel posts, barrier flower pots and retractable automobile barriers. The City Council in the previous election term repeatedly failed to approve a draft contract for land rental with the embassy.
