Black rhinoceros from Britain to boost Czech zoo's rhino breeding

October 9th, 2020

The Dvur Kralove Zoo has announced the acquisition of a male black rhinoceros from Zoo Chester in Britain, which reached Dvur Kralove on Thursday to boost the local breeding of two rhino species. Last week, the zoo acquired a male white southern rhinoceros from the Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen, Germany. The brand-new arrival is Embu, a seven-year black (hook-lipped) rhino, the eastern subspecies. It is the first new bull black rhino the Dvur Kralove zoo has acquired in 12 years.
