Bek does not expect Zelenskiy to come to EU summit in Prague

September 16th, 2022

Czech Minister for European Affairs Mikulas Bek does not expect Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to arrive for the EU Prague summit in October, as the Ukrainian head of state would not leave his country as long as the Russian military invasion continues there, Bek told media today. Before the July 1 start of the Czech EU presidency, Czech politicians said Zelenskiy's participation in the summit would be an ideal variant, but would depend on how the conflict in Ukraine would develop. The EU informal summit will be held in Prague on October 6-7, focusing on the EU's broad cooperation with non-EU countries.
