Bar Chamber points to cruel treatment and torture in criminal proceedings

The Slovak Bar Chamber (SAK) has stated that criminal proceedings in several cases have reached a level of particularly cruel treatment and torture as described by the European Court of Human Rights, SAK spokesperson Alexandra Donevova told TASR on Friday. SAK has pointed to trampling of the principle of the presumption of innocence and to the unjustified use of special heavily armed units during detentions.
