The breeding and killing of rabbits, hares and other animals solely or primarily for the purpose of obtaining their fur should be banned, according to an amendment to the law on veterinary care submitted for the June parliamentary session by MP Eva Antosova (Slovak National Party/SNS). "The definition of breeding and killing as 'solely and primarily' for obtaining fur will allow fur processing as a by-product of meat production, but prevent breeding for fur as the main product," stated Antosova.
