Balkans frustrated over protracted EU accession - minister

June 28th, 2021

The Western Balkan countries are frustrated over slow progress made their bids to join the EU, Poland's foreign minister said after Monday's meeting of Visegrad Group (V4) and Western Balkan foreign ministers. After talks in Rogalin, western Poland, Zbigniew Rau said Poland and other V4 countries were steadfast in their support of the EU accession of the Western Balkan states. "I expressed Poland's unwavering support for EU enlargement, which we share with the V4 members," Rau said, adding that the Western Balkan representatives expressed their disappointment over the slow progress in their countries' EU accession procedure.
