Babis: State of emergency won't affect economy

September 30th, 2020

The state of emergency the government plans to declare in itself does not introduce any restrictions, Prime Minister Andrej Babis told the Chamber of Deputies within the debate on the forthcoming measure on Wednesday. No one wants to close shops, restaurants or other establishments, which happened in the spring to curb the spread of coronavirus, he added. The government wants to declare a two-week state of emergency as of next Monday. Interior Minister Jan Hamacek said this would not imply any limitations of movement or a travel ban.
