Prime Minister Andrej Babis (ANO) does not have to apologise to the Transparency International (TI) corruption watchdog for having called it corrupt, the Central Bohemia Regional Court ruled today, but the verdict has not taken effect yet and the TI is likely to appeal it. "All controversial statements by the defendant (Babis) were reaction to the criticism of his person by the complainant (TI) within an open debate. It is apparent from the context that this was no accusation of the complainant of corruption, bribe taking or another crime," the judge said. The TI Czech branch (TIC) has long focused on Babis's conflict of interest.
