Artificial lung used for record 143 days before transplantation in Czech Republic

A patient needed an instrument replacing the function of lungs for the record 143 days before her transplantation surgery, doctors from the Motol General Teaching Hospital (VFN) in Prague told journalists today. The previous world record was 79 days. The woman, 36, had to wait for the suitable organ for six months because she is small and has a rare blood group.
