ANO to nominate outgoing deputy PM Havlicek for lower house head

November 8th, 2021

The ANO movement is going to propose Karel Havlicek, the outgoing deputy prime minister and industry and transport minister, for chairman of the new Chamber of Deputies, ANO deputies' group head Alena Schillerova told the media before the Chamber's constituent session on Monday. The parties of the nascent majority cabinet, i.e. the Civic Democrats (ODS), Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), TOP 09 , which form the Together alliance, and the Pirates/Mayors and Independents (PirSTAN) tandem, previously said they would propose TOP 09 leader Marketa Pekarova Adamova for lower house chairwoman. Announcing the planned bid of Havlicek, Schillerova argued that ANO is the strongest opposition party.
