Analysts: Slovak economy not up to pre-crisis levels

November 13th, 2020

The rebounding of the Slovak economy in the third quarter of the year is a "nice surprise", even though it still has not reached anywhere near its pre-crisis levels, UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia analyst Lubomir Korsnak commented on preliminary estimates of GDP in 3Q20. "According to preliminary data by the Statistics Office, the Slovak GDP in the third quarter of the year grew by 11.7 percent (seasonally adjusted) and thus offset a significant portion of the pandemic crunch from the first half of the year. Despite this, however, the Slovak economy hasn't gone entirely back to where it was in pre-crisis times," said the analyst, noting also that the growth in Slovakia slightly lagged behind the EU and eurozone average.
