Pope: Solidarity promoted changes in Poland and abroad

Pope Francis told representatives of Solidarity on Wednesday that the union was a promoter of political and social change in Poland, as well as beyond the country's borders. Pope Francis was speaking at a private audience with members of the Solidarity trade union held at the House of St. Martha in the Vatican. The meeting was attended by members of the Presidium of the National Commission of Solidarity, including its chairman Piotr Duda. Also present was a delegation from the International Centre for Research on the Phenomenon of Solidarity and Italian politician Rocco Buttiglione.
