The Polish Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned the Russian ambassador to Poland over a public statement made by a Russian senator in which he accused Poland of obstructing Russian aid addressed to Italy. Ambassador Sergei Andreev was asked to come to the ministry after Senator Aleksey Pushkov publicly accused Poland of closing its airspace to Russian planes transporting medical aid to Italy. During the meeting, the Polish Foreign Ministry "expressed indignation at the absurd accusation made by a prominent Russian politician," the ministry said in a Thursday statement.
