Hungary is no longer a country of assembly plants but one of innovation, Innovation and Technology Minister Laszlo Palkovics said on Friday at the inauguration of an innovation and knowledge centre in Zalaegerszeg, in southwest Hungary. Palkovics added that according to an IMF survey, Hungarian production "has reached the level of Germany". Advanced technology is not merely imported and implemented in the country but is further developed here, he said. Affiliated with the Budapest Business School (BGE), the centre cost nearly 1 billion forints (EUR 3.0m) and was built with a 250 million forint government grant.
