The number of fraudsters, mostly North-African nationals, seeking fake marriage with Czech women in order to gain a residence permit in the EU or to receive money from the women is on the rise, the Foreign Ministry said on its website today. The highest numbers of sham marriages with Czech women have been detected by the embassies in Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia, the ministry said. "The number of fake marriages increases in relation to the preceding tourist season, starting as a holiday encounter or after contacts over social media," the Foreign Ministry wrote.
