EU transition fund should not support nuclear energy - Kurz

January 16th, 2020

It is crucial for Austria that the money from the Transition Fund that is to boost poorer EU regions' transition to climate-neutral economy be not used for nuclear power, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said after his talks with the Visegrad Four (V4) countries' prime ministers in Prague on Thursday. Renewable energy sources, not nuclear energy should be supported from the fund, Kurz said after meeting his Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak colleagues, whose countries rely on fossil fuels, especially power generation from coal.
