UPSVaR: 6.7pc of Slovaks dependent on social benefits

A total of 185,445 people received social benefits for the poor in March, an increase of around 200 since the beginning of 2012, the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (UPSVaR) announced on Monday. The highest number of recipients of social benefits for the poor was found in Kosice region - 42,549, followed by Banska Bystrica region - 35,823, Presov region - 34,145, Nitra region - 26,246, Zilina region - 16,508, Trnava region - 13,035, Trencin region - 12,277 and Slovakia's wealthiest region Bratislava - 4,862.
