Slovakia's SaS to withdraw bill if Smer vows to scrap immunity by September 1

May 9th, 2012

If Prime Minister Robert Fico vows publicly that MPs' immunity from prosecution vis-a-vis all crimes will be scrapped by September 1, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party is ready to withdraw its proposal to the same effect from the ongoing parliamentary session, SaS chairman Richard Sulik told a press conference on Wednesday. SaS's request follows Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paska's (Smer-SD) urging for the 11-MP party to backtrack on its proposal.
