Poland Tuesday asked Russia for written guarantees that Poland-detained Russian prosecutor Alexandr Ignatenko will not be sentenced to death, tortured or mistreated after his extradition to Russia. Ignatenko, a former high executive in the Moscow prosecution, was arrested by Polish security services on Jan. 1, 2012 near the south-Polish mountain spa Zakopane. The former prosecutor was sought by Interpol on corruption charges. In February a Polish court agreed to Ignatenko's extradition to Russia but prolonged his detention in Poland to June 9.
