Over 40,000 Hungarian immigrants registered in Germany last year

May 17th, 2012

The German authorities registered nearly a million immigrants last year, the highest number in 15 years, including 41,980 Hungarians, 12,000 more than a year before, the German statistical office Destatis reported late on Wednesday. With this figure, Hungary was the fourth biggest source of immigration, trailing Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. In the meantime, 25,000 people moved from Germany to Hungary, resulting in a balance of 16,980 immigrants for Germany, Destatis said.
