Number of Czechs with negative attitude to Roma rising - poll

May 22nd, 2012

The number of Czechs with a negative attitude to the Roma has increased by about 10 percent since 2011, according to a STEM poll conducted in April and published on Tuesday. Three quarters of Czech have a negative attitude to the Roma minority -- the highest level since 1994. Fully 14 percent say they feel aversion to Romanies, compared to 10 percent last year. Only 2 percent of the polled express a positive attitude to Romanies and no one expressed a very positive attitude towards them.
