Klaus signs law enabling Czechs to petition EU offices

May 17th, 2012

Czech President Vaclav Klaus on Thursday signed a bill on the European Citizens' Initiative into law that would enable Czechs along with other EU citizens to petition EU institutions, Klaus's spokesman Radim Ochvat said on Thursday. The legislation is based on the Lisbon Treaty. The petition must be signed by at least one million voters from at least a quarter of EU countries.
