The Hungarian government is planning to spend almost twice as much as now on defence in ten years' time, a deputy state secretary of the Defence Ministry said in Parliament on Wednesday. In a presentation to an Austrian parliamentary delegation, Peter Siklosi said that by 2022, Hungary's defence spending could reach 1.4 percent of the country's GDP, as opposed to the current ratio of 0.8 percent. The government has decided to implement no further cuts in defence spending, he said.
