Hungary's Batthyany Circle of Professors and the opposition LMP party expressed concern over the government's lease scheme of state-owned lands designed for farmers and stated support for family-owned businesses on Thursday. The two laws adopted in 2010 had promoted family-owned businesses, but the outcome of awarding bids in 2012 "has proven contrary to expectations. The majority of state-owned land had been given to owners of multihectare-sized lands, instead of local farmers," they said.
