Hungary's parlt adopts law on introducing phone tax

Parliament adopted a law on introducing a tax on telephone charges on Friday. Under the law, the tax will be introduced on July 1, and payable from August. It will be set at 2 forints per minute, while 10 minutes of talk-time will be exempted from the tax each month. The tax would be capped at 700 forints (EUR 2.34) a month for individuals and 2,500 forints (EUR 8.37) a month for businesses. It will be payable by the service providers. A 2-forint charge will also be payable after each text message sent.
