Hungary condemns massacre in Syria - foreign ministry

May 29th, 2012

Hungary condemns the Syrian army's recent attack on the settlement of Houla which claimed 108 lives, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday. Such "brutal and inhuman use" of military force against civilians constitutes "the grossest violation" of fundamental international norms as well as commitments undertaken by the Syrian leadership, the statement said. The ministry calls upon the Syrian regime to halt the violence immediately, support the United Nation's observer mission and implement former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan's six-point peace plan.
