Czechs develop two unmanned planes for surveillance

May 29th, 2012

The Czech Military Technical Institute (VTU) has developed two unmanned planes that can be used for air reconnaissance and to watch demonstrations, Iva Ruskovska, from the PP Partners, said on Tuesday. Thanks to the aircraft, the military may save the operational costs of two big piloted helicopters used for the purposes. The smaller of the planes weighs 6.5 kilograms and it is called Optoelektron, Ruskovska said. The bigger, called Sokol (Falcon), weighs roughly 20 kilograms and it has more sophisticated equipment, she added.
