Czech regional councillors to stay on after ex-governor's arrest over alleged bribe

Councillors of the Central Bohemian Region will keep their posts, deputy regional governor Marcel Chladek (opposition Social Democrats, CSSD) said on Monday in connection with the accusation of former governor David Rath (CSSD) of corruption. The councillors were considering taking political responsibility after Rath was arrested with seven million crowns, allegedly a bribe, a week ago. Chladek said he proposed that the whole council resign, but most of the councillors voted against it.
