Czech president promotes generals on Victory Day

Czech President Vaclav Klaus promoted three soldiers to the ranks of generals on Tuesday, when Victory Day is celebrated in the country. Klaus said that during his presidential tenure he had appointed or promoted 108 generals. He went on to comment the government's cutting the military spending in the past years. "We are promoting generals, but cutting the military spending," Klaus said. At present, the Czech army has 28 generals in active service.
