The Prague High Court upheld on Wednesday the seven-year sentence for Czech Finance Ministry's former employee Karel Ponocny imposed on him for the fraudulent exacting of the states allegedly bad debt of some 46 million crowns from Peru. The verdict is valid. Ponocny can only file an appellate review with the Supreme Court. Ponocny was punished in the case in 2007 already when he was being tried as fugitive. When he was later detained abroad and transported to the Czech Republic, he used the right to repeated trial.
