Czech army to withdraw from Afghanistan in next years

May 11th, 2012

The Czech army is to deploy a maximum of 539 soldiers next year, 100 fewer than this year in Afghanistan within a pullout that is part of a NATO strategy, according to the proposal to be debated by the government on Wednesday. This year, the military may deploy up to 640 soldiers. At the beginning of next year, the Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team that has operated in Afghanistan since 2008 is to start withdrawing from the province of Logar.
