Controversial amendment to Polish press law will be changed - Senate speaker

May 8th, 2012

Poland's Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz has promised changes to a controversial amendment to a press law which has aroused opposition from editors-in-chief of Poland's newspapers. Editors-in-chief of Poland's major newspapers called Monday for withdrawing Senate-proposed changes to a press act on the grounds that they "are killing the press". The Senate speaker met the signatories of the appeal on Tuesday. "The Senate has no intention to kill the press (...)", Borusewicz said. "I am sure that we will work out a joint position."
