Babis: Member states' influence on distribution of EU funds most important

May 8th, 2019

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, after talks with European Council President Donald Tusk on Wednesday, said he considers strengthening member states' influence on the use of EU subsidies to be the most important issue. Security, migration issues as well as the relation between the European Council and European Commission are the EU's strategic priorities for the next five-year period, Babis added. Tusk stressed the ideas of Czech visionaries, including the first Czechoslovak and Czech post-communist president Vaclav Havel, of what Europe should look like.
