President Milos Zeman has thanked Czech soldiers serving in foreign missions in Afghanistan, Mali, Iraq and Sinai and on the Golan Heights, by phone, the Presidential Office said in a press release on Monday. Zeman called the commanders of the Czech units serving abroad, with the assistance of the Defence Ministry and the military command representatives. A photograph released on Twitter by Zeman's spokesman shows that Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar, the President's Military Office chief Jan Kase, Chief of Staff Ales Opata and other generals were present, taking part in the video call. The Czech military has the strongest contingent in Afghanistan where some 250 Czech soldiers are stationed.
