Czech President Milos Zeman signed on Thursday a bill granting Britons in the Czech Republic equal rights with EU citizens in some areas for a transition period in the case of a no-deal Brexit, his office has told CTK. The legislation will only be applied if Britain leaves the European Union without any agreement with Brussels. Britain is to leave the EU on March 29. The British parliament did not pass the Brexit deal previously. Without the respective legislation, British citizens living in the Czech Republic would be in the same position as citizens from the countries outside the EU in the case of a no-deal Brexit. This would affect some 5,000 Britons working on the Czech labour market.
