Zeman's office head withdraws complaint against security office

January 25th, 2019

Presidential Office head Vratislav Mynar has withdrawn his complaint against the National Security Office (NBU) over its refusal to grant him security clearance, President Milos Zeman's spokesman Jiri Ovcacek told journalists today. Mynar did so for fear that the trial might not be fair, Ovcacek said. Mynar has questioned the independence of judges Stepan Vyborny and Jan Kratochvil since they linked their past with the people who are against him, he added. Mynar will stay in his post, Ovcacek said. Ovcacek said Mynar's current security clearance for a lower degree was fully sufficient to execute his post. It is issued by the employer, not the NBU.
