The EU will grant more than 145 million for the construction of a 40km stretch of the S17 expressway from Warsaw to the eastern city of Lublin, the European Commission said on Thursday. The project will contribute to increasing territorial cohesion of eastern Poland and will improve connections with neighbouring countries, the EC statement quoted EU Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cretu as saying. The S17 road is part of a trans-European transport route, linking Poland and Ukraine. The stretch is expected to be opened in November 2019.
