The unemployment rate in Slovakia stood at 5.43 percent in June, up by 0.06 percentage points (p.p.) month-on-month and down by 1.47 p.p. year-on-year, TASR learnt from the latest data released by the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (UPSVaR) on Friday. According to UPSVaR general director Marian Valentovic, the number of jobseekers immediately able to take up a job was 149,727 in June, an increase of 1,637 individuals m-o-m and a fall of 38,270 individuals y-o-y. The unemployment rate calculated from the total number of jobseekers reached 6.58 percent in June, with no change on a monthly basis and a decrease of 1.56 p.p. y-o-y.
