Ukrainian ambassador: Russia turned Crimea into 'military base'

Since its occupation in 2014, Russia has turned the Crimean peninsula into a "military base", constantly increasing the number of troops and installing modern weapons there, and rehabilitating the old Soviet ammunition factories, airports and arsenals, Yevhen Perebyinis, Ukraine's Ambassador to the Czech Republic, said on Wednesday. The occupation has far-reaching human rights and environmental consequences, he said.
