A record long pool of trucks carrying 30 tonnes of food donated by 19 companies to needy families pulled through Budapest's historical city centre to mark UN's World Food Day on Monday. The charity drive has been co-organised for the 12th time by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the Hungarian Food Bank to call public attention to the controversy of food waste and the scarcity of food supplies around the world. The convoy was driving along Andrassy Avenue to be greeted at Heroes' Square by Vladimir Rakhmanin, FAO's Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia.
