Teacher unions to hold demo against public education reform on June 3

Five unions representing teachers and education employees will hold a demonstration on June 3 against the reform of the public education system and for the postponement of the introduction of the public education law, union officials told a press conference on Tuesday. Union representatives insisted that the new law, adopted in December last year, would put extra burdens on teachers, it would involve mass lay-offs and would unfavourably impact children. Consultations with unions and professional bodies during the drafting process had been omitted, they said.
