It is in Hungary's fundamental interest that trade disputes at global level should be resolved through talks, and under no circumstances should a trade war be allowed to unfold, the foreign minister said in Brussels on Tuesday after meeting European Union foreign ministers and trade representatives. Hungary's exports totalled nearly 90 percent of GDP and its volume exceeded 100 billion euros in 2017, the foreign minister said. Foreign capital in Hungary surpassed 8,500 euros per capita last year, Peter Szijjarto said. Hungary is therefore extremely vulnerable to recent tensions between world powers in trade, he said. All measures hampering global free trade are detrimental to the country, he said.
