Szijjarto: Brussels must be prevented from implementing UN migration compact

Brussels is doing all it can to implement the United Nations Global Migration Compact, Peter Szijjarto, the foreign minister, told public television on Friday. "But we will prevent this," he said. In Spain last year the number of illegal border crossings doubled, Szijjarto told current affairs channel M1. In Turkey, 50 percent more illegal migrants were apprehended than in 2017 and the number of arrivals in Cyprus has doubled. Further, the number of arrivals on the Greek-Turkish land border is rising steadily, he added. The UN migration pact has put wind in the sails of global migration as it focuses on managing rather than stopping migration, he said.
