About 100 people protested against NATO and the Czech Republic's membership of it on Wenceslas Square in central Prague on Wednesday. The rally was held by the Czech Peace Movement with the support of the No Bases group in connection with the starting NATO summit in Brussels. The demonstrators carried the flags of the Czech Peace Movement and the Communist Youth Union. They also signed a petition demanding that all military activities in the territory of the Czech Republic be halted. "War first takes place in the economy, media and in the heads of those who profit from this," said Eva Novotna of No Bases. Communist (KSCM) deputy chairman Petr Simunek came to support the demonstration.
