Slovakia to provide financial support for reconstruction of Meudon observatory

This year, the Year of Milan Rastistav Stefanik, Slovakia will support the reconstruction of an observatory in the Paris suburb of Meudon, where Stefanik worked as an astronomer at the beginning of the 20th century, Culture Minister Lubica Lassakova said at her meeting with French Ambassador to Slovakia Christophe Leonzi last week. The Slovak minister will pay her respects to M.R. Stefanik by laying a wreath at his memorial at the Meudon observatory in March. "The French ambassador confirmed that top officials of the French government plan to take part in commemorations of the 100th anniversary of Stefanik's death on May 4, 2019," said Lassakova.
