November 11th, 2020

President Janos Ader has awarded Hungarian state prizes to four people working for the ethnic Hungarian community in Slovakia. At a small-scale event at the Hungarian Embassy in Bratislava, Ambassador Tibor Peto handed the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit to journalist Maria Szabo Hajak, historian Tivadar Breda and Ferenc Bodnar, the mayor of Resica (Reste), in southeast Slovakia, for their work promoting the welfare of Hungarian communities across the borders. Jesuit monk Sandor Puss was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit, for community work among ethnic Hungarians.
